Election Day in Georgia: Your Quick Checklist

Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Here’s how to get it done.

Today’s the day. More than 2.8 million Georgians already voted early, a midterm record. If you’re not one of them, there’s still time. This checklist will help you, and the people you know, cast a ballot today.

Before You Go

  1. Find your assigned precinct. Early voting sites are closed. On Election Day, you must vote at your own polling place. Look it up on the My Voter Page at mvp.sos.ga.gov.

  2. Block the time. Put it on your calendar so the day doesn’t get away from you.

  3. Plan your ride. And invite someone to go with you. Voting is better with company.

  4. Preview your sample ballot. It’s on the My Voter Page, too. Georgia doesn’t allow photos of your ballot, so jot your notes on paper.

  5. Bring your photo ID. Georgia requires one to vote in person. A Georgia driver’s license (even expired), U.S. passport, military or tribal ID, or Georgia public college ID all work.

At the Polls

  1. In line by 7 p.m.? Stay put. You can still vote.

  2. Have an unreturned absentee ballot? Bring it with you. A poll worker will cancel it, and then you can vote in person.

  3. Made a mistake? No problem. Ask a poll worker for a new ballot before you cast yours.

  4. Registration or ID issue? First, confirm you’re at your assigned precinct. If it’s still not resolved, ask for a provisional ballot.

What’s a Provisional Ballot?

It lets you vote even if there’s a question about your eligibility. You have three days after Election Day to resolve the issue with your county. Do that, and your vote counts.
